air management
So I'm ready to buy an air management system.
I've been looking around and found this kit. I know airbagit.com's fabricated products aren't very hot but what about the air management. Eventually I'll go with a engine driven compressor but this will get me going for now. Here's what I'm looking at let me know what you guys think. Hi there, lets start with the basics, 3 gallon tank is not enough you should use a 5 or 6 gallon, a 3 gallon will have you lifting the front twice then the rear while you wait on the compressor. second the pressure switch is barely if even enough pressure at 120psi. you should use a minimum 110-145 psi switch i like the 175 on the high side. third they say not to use a larger psi switch because the valves cant handle it when in a fs truck with an sbc eng you will likely need around 110 to 120 psi at ride height in the front (only 30 - 50 psi rear). i would use a kit with a higher psi rating and a larger tank personally.
Now for my personal opinion i would not use airbagit.com aka chassistech aka aim industries aka ?? again after my bad experiences with their products but that was 10 years ago so... personally i like to go with brand names with a proven track record like SMC, Parker, Viar but then again its been 10 years since ive used their products. Any body else have some advice ??

The way I see it is, that's 550+ dollars u could use towards the kit u actually want. If u must have a less expensive temporary kit check out ***************** they have some nice " beginners kits" to chose from. It will be a lot better to start there. Just my opinion.

I have read enough post about crap stuff from them i wouldn't buy anything off them.Talk to some of the vendors on here most are dealers for everyone and can take care of you easy.Cheapest place i trust is http://www.newmaticsinc.com/

save up and buy the engine driven. you gonna waist time and money installing the other one if its only temporary. I love having a quite edc. its amazing.

Do not buy the airbagit parts spend the $$$ for a good kit. I got my a/c compressor off craigslist and the rest of the parts from a.v.s.

Thats a good staring kit, heres a kit that i last installed on an S10 comes with everything but no gauges or brackets. includes ;comp, tank(aluminum multiport) p switch, relay, switch box, firestone bags, SMC valves, all correct fittings & hose. for only 899 it looks like a better deal and also they actually included all the correct fittings (not plastic ones) the valves (8 for FBSS) were SMC 3/8. the 1/2 may be better on a FS if you want a faster lift. also the smaller comp is no big deal if you are planning on upgrading to en eng driven soon. they also do free shipping over 500. I plan on buying my kit from them (CCE coolcars)when i get to that point . no i dont work for them , they put together a good kit with brand names at a good price. check it out .

Thats a cool kit. I ended up ordering that one I posted from *******************
Can't wait for it to get here! ! I'll end up building a steel box to hide everything in with a removable top and air vents.

Congrats, thats a good setup with a good compressor. SD aka QAR makes and sells some excellent stuff, my old 95 silverado was done with all their stuff, good quality and heavy plate step notch.
Andrewmp6 - Lucky!, I wish i lived near a real custom shop. that would save me on shipping ! we had a few hack shops pop up 10 years ago when bagged trucks got huge here in OK but they all vanished. Mail order only for us...

to me the valve size really doesnt matter, its how big the air line is. mine are 3/8" valves with 1/2" airline...and its ridiculously fast. a little too fast actually.
i would go with a starter kit from suicidedoors first, then add what you want as your installing it. there is no "cheap" way to do bags..lol. i tried to piece together a kit thinking i would save money...and it didnt work. im still tweaking stuff around to get it how i want, nature of the beast i guess..

Yeah I'm glad I found this kit. Should be a good kit for years down the road. I'll probably double up on another VIAIR compressor and call it good.
Too bad their shipping is super slow. I'm ready to have this thing going.

Thats right KEV, you have to get the air to the valve first. bigger air hose gets the air where it needs to be to maximize the potential of the valves. i like 1/2 line and 1/2 valves with 180 + psi and atleast a 5 gallon tank. but i like it fast. some want to raise up, others (me) want to jump up.
