How much paint for our trucks?

I thought about posting this is the Paint section but I thought maybe it'd be better suited here. How many gallon(s) of paint do I need to paint my '66?
I'll be purchasing the Hot Rod Flatz Gallon Kit (with Reducer and Hardner) and was wondering if that would be enough to do the body and jambs (not the inside of the bed, though).

Thanks!

Edit: I searched the site and couldn't get a consensus...

Re: How much paint for our trucks?

I'm stretching a gallon of single stage to do my complete truck inside and out. It's really not enough. I've been supplimenting it with some base.

Let me know if you want me to move it to the paint section.

I was thinking a gallon might be a little short... do you think an extra quart should ease things up a bit?

Are you spraying single stage or base? PPG base coat reduces down 50% if I remember correctly. A gallon will give you 2 gallons. I would double check that figure with your paint supplier.

Re: How much paint for our trucks?

HRF is a single stage urethane. I'm very paint dumb (I'm not hte one painting, just have to buy the material) - with the quart of reducer and hardener will that give me 2 paintable gallons?

Thanks again for your help!

No that will give you "maybe" a gallon and half. Base/clear reduces 50/50 and @ 1 gal it will give you 2 gal when mixed. If your doing pretyy much inside and out id would get 2 gal because it never hurts to have too much.

I'm still up in the air. I had Hot Rod Black picked out but my wife made a good point that if we were going to be spending all this money to have the truck fixed that we should at least do a color that will turn heads so I'm thinking Daytona Blue Pearl.

I like this kid's color scheme of HRF Daytona Blue Pearl and HRF Gun Smoke Metallic and might try to do the truck in the same light...

I have heard that the HRF pearls and metallics are a mother to shoot, anybody else hear that?

i can understand your wife's reasoning...i like that blue!....was contemplating a HRF metallic for a future build...or might do basecoat with flattened clear...got a long time to think about it & hopefully see good examples beforehand...seems like i read somewhere that spraying HRF can potentially be a bit difficult
