1970 C10 Getting Ready for my daughter

I have an uncle who has a 1968, 1969 and 1970. My daughter has commented on sever occassions that she wanted a truck in this same year range so I did some horse trading and came up with this

This pic is right after I picked it up. Personally I am not a fan of low profile wide tires on these trucks so that was one of the first things I changed.

This is how she is sitting now.

It is former life it got a half ass paint job over some crappy body work. However, it is servicable and the 307 runs and sounds as good as any that I have come across.

I plan on working over the brakes and adding lap belts right off the bat. Shocks and bushings will be in there somewhere and a redo of the seat.

This truck is a daily driver as it sits but needs a little TLC some minor work beore I turn her loose with.

Re: 1970 C10 Getting Ready for my daughter

Lucky girl. My suggestion would be to adapt in some shoulder belts instead of just lap belts - precious cargo. The upper mount holes are already there - just have to find some units that adapt in. I used a set out of a Ford van (fully contained base unit), but I saw some from an S10 that looked really clean (low profile base mount).

How old is she now? I'm thinking my 69 will go to my 3 year old some day, now to find something for the 1 year old, the wife, and myself... I guess I'll drive the 69 for a while!

nice truck by the way

She just turned 15 so I only have a year or so to enjoy the truck myself. I tried giving her my jeep cherokee but I guess she has better taste than that.

Re: 1970 C10 Getting Ready for my daughter

i second the shoulder harness seat belts. I am doing over the interior on the 68. I had lap belts but i ordered a set of shoulder/lap belts from LMC Truck. Like dmack91 said the holes for the shoulder part is already there. I feel more comfortable not kissing my metal dash, lol. Good luck with your project.

Yep, its a 70, just has a few odd year parts that were added.

Shoulder belts are high on the priority list. I thought about a disk conversion but she seems to stop fine.
