All you guys who have made the swap--who has the best price for a front disc kit with the master cylinder & 2-1/2 drop spindle (6 lug)?

I've got right at $1200 in my conversion/drop. I bought all my parts from GMC Paul and would not hesitate to do busines with them again.
I got their 63-70 2 1/2" Drop Spindle Disc Brake Conversion & 3" or 4" Rear Drop Kit, 7" Power Brake Booster, Adjustable Rear Panhard bar, new front springs and the shock relocator kit. All quality parts. I am very happy with the project.

I would consider more than price. If you want to keep 6 lugs, try www.earlyclassic.com or www.gmcpauls.com

here's a related question:
if i go with the 67-70 6 lug conversion, do they give 67-70 ball joints or do they use the 71-72 ball joints? jay

I spent a ton ($2000) by the time....
I got finished with the chassis. I used Early Classic stuff, with the 2.5-inch drop spindles, 6-lug discs (and all associated kit parts), new stock height springs (shoulda dropped it another inch), new front stabilizer mounts (to raise it up and avoid dragging it on stuff), new 4-inch lowering springs on the rear, new adjustable track bar, new shocks on the rear, shock mount relocators for the rear, and also new (NAPA) upper and lower ball joints (stock for the '69), upper/lower control arm shafts and bushings, tie rod ends (outers), idler and pitman arms and a center link. All of those parts, plus $300 in labor (my cousin did it for me), two new tires, and an alignment to stock specs.
This is not to dis the stuff that GMC Paul sells. I didn't know about his stuff, and I'd been in contact with ECE, since '99. They're very helpful, and will dispense advice for free, even if it means you may buy something that they offer, from someone else. Very nice buncha folks. One more thing about ECE: their shipping guy(s) sent the wrong spindles, i.e., not the dropped ones I had ordered. As soon as I notified them, they immediately shipped the correct ones and entered the order to have UPS pick up the wrong ones....all on my say-so. No questions asked, and they apologized profusely. Excellent customer service....better than WalMart!

The beauty of the ECE 6-lug kit is it uses stock 67-70 ball joints and tie rod ends. I think the calipers are stock 71-72. Their 5-lug kits use 5x5" truck rotors, not 5x4-3/4" passenger car rotors, as do some of the kits out there, like the ones from LMC truck.

In regards to the question on Ball joints and stuff our kits that are 63-70 use all original ball joints and tie rods no need to swap to 71 up parts to convert. Our rotors are 1 1/4" thick, 12" diameter, 5 on 5" bolt pattern for 5 lug, and 6 on 5 1/2" pattern for 6 lug just like the original were, no cheap light weight car parts used, we use the 71 up GM calipers and wheel bearings and seals from the trucks also in our kit. We keep it all here in stock at all times.

I would go with early classic enterprises. Their kits use your old ball joints and i have been very impressed with the parts they sell.
