E3 Spark Plugs??
I am sorry, I know that this has been brought up before, but I can't search with key word E3 it just searches Spark Plugs.
My question is, who is running the E3.42 plugs and how do you like them? Thanks for your time.

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
Well they do in fact create a larger spark then a normal plug using the same set up. But I am not sure how much spark you really need to ignite. We sell them and they are expensive at $5.00 each. They claim in the videos they get better 5hp and burn less fuel. I am going to put a set in the 91 suburban and see how it does on mileage. Don't think i would notice any HP improvement
Quite a few people like NKG plugs. It seems like the opinions on the E3's I have read are about even. Some even claimed that they wpuld not fire on 2 cylinders which i find hard to believe. I used to Drag Race a Pro-modified Harley back when everyone raived about split-fires. We tried all kinds of plugs and the regular old fashioned Champions worked the best for us. Seems like companies spend a fortune improving plugs. I am sure that thier is an improvement,I personally still not convinced they really do that much. Hey but fr $40.00 next time you need plugs try them. Last edited by mbgmike; 05-15-2011 at 09:38 AM. |

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
I see them as other types. Gimmicks. I find it's just hard to beat an AC plug for durability. No I don't work for AC. Just years and miles behind me.

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
I find that funny, How does a plug throw more spark and ignite more fuel but burns less fuel. that sure sounds off the wall lol. and then to gain 5HP more. that you will never be able to tell lol

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
We threw a set in a dyno engine after tuning it with a set of autolites. It made 4 less hp, and started pinging pretty bad. We then threw a set of delcos in and it made the exact same numbers as the autolites and ran equally smooth. The E3's did however make it sound like it had a more aggressive cam while at idle, probably due to poor burn characteristics.

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
I have them in my daily driver after watchin the demo, the bosch plugs I had seemed to start up better than the E3's, besides that I have not noticed a difference....

If you burn more fuel it's more efficient- more burnt fuel = more power More power made on the last compression stroke means less fuel needed for the next. This is why we aim for the perfect Air/Fuel ratio. If your running rich your throwing $ away on fuel, and leaving a good deal of power on the table. Hope this clears it up a little for you, if not I've got some PDF files that explain all of this is detail, I was just trying to give the quick, short answer. |

I put a set in my '67 Suburban with an Olds 455 engine.
Will let you know how it does once I get the tranny installed.

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
They are junk! Put some in my 2002 GMC with 8.1. Truck started running like
crap after around 12,000 miles with new plugs. Couldn't figure out why (never occurred to me to check my new " awesome" plugs) Dealer checked and 3 of the 8 were fouled. Truck is running like new with AC Telco plugs. Pure junk!!! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
Just pulled a set out of our big block and replaced them with tried and true Autolite 25's. I have sold auto parts for 30 years and have seen it all. This is just the latest spark plug gimmick. Stick with what works, A.C's Autolites and even NGK plugs. The E3's we removed are on ebay for sale,,, cheap..http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT. Thanks.

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
They dynoed them on POWERBLOCKTV with great results.
I threw some in my 2008 Chevy truck with no noticable difference. |

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
We will quit selling them if they are that bad. No one has complained to us or returned any at all. I never have used them like i said but since I have them in stock and no one likes them on here I will put them in my truck and see how they work. Its really hard to believe they are that bad but you guys know what works and what does not.

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
Yes, that is what I said. Even a gimmick spark plug will fire the correct air/fuel mixture. Doesn't mean I have to use them, they were just in the truck when we bought it. I sell Slick 50 at my store, don't use it, just sell it. If a person feels/thinks/believes something works, most times it does...

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
Thanks for all the replies. Well a buddy of mine was able to get me a set for cheap and installed them yesterday. Now I don't now if it is the fact that theres a new set of plugs or because they are E3's, but I do notice a difference on the low end. Its probably the fact that the old ones are gone. I will keep you all updated as time goes on and let you know what I think of them.

E3's, Splitfires, Halos, etc. All gimmicks.
Plain ol' AC Delco or NGK's are the best out there. Gary

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
Most times plugs that are disigned for late model apps wont perform as well in early model apps i think i would stay with the product that was set up for your truck.

Re: E3 Spark Plugs??
After spending 35 years turning wrenches in dealerships, I removed countless sets of "aftermarket gimmick" plugs in order to fix various driveability problems.
From my experience, (with very few exceptions), most engines perform best with the original brand/ type/heat range plug that they came from the factory with.
