While at the salvage yard last week I came accross a '75 C60 chevy. I looked inside out of curiousity and noticed that it a had temp gauge with numbers on it opposed to the standard gauge with just "C" & "H". So i snagged the temp gauge in hopes to put it in my '76 K10. My question is will it work? the two gauges look the same other than the gauge faces but I dont know if the two gauges will use the same temp sender. Has anybody tried this?

They fit just fine. I think my 85 had numbers on the temp gauge but it's gone to its reward.

A common swap is the Medium Duty tach with fuel gauge in the bottom.

The Medium Duty trucks had 80psi oil pressure gauges.

Good to know. I didnt notice the 80 psi oil gauge, but that would work in place of the 60 psi gauge too?

Hi Zach,

Yes, the 80psi oil gauge will fit too.

GM went to electric oil gauges in 78, but you'll be all set since your truck is a 76 and the donor is a 75 ... they'll both be mechanical oil gauges.

I put a set of gauges just like that (100-250 deg temp and 80psi oil) in dad's 77 GMC. I think they too came from a 75 medium duty cluster and were both a direct swap.

Well thanks for the help guys, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. Looks like I'll be putting in a 100-250 temp gauge and an 80 psi oil pressure gauge soon.

Make sure you use an 80 psi pressure sending unit.

I'm not sure if you need that or not. I know I used a 100 psi gauge in my cc from a medium duty truck and it read perfect compared to a mechanical gauge on both the low end and the high end. This was with my cummins and the stock chevy sender.

I won't need a sending unit because it's a mechanical oil pressure gauge

I got the 100* to 250* temp gauge in and it works perfect. While at the salvage yard today I went to pull a 80 psi oil pressure gauge from a '75 medium duty truck, and it was an electronic gauge. Since mine is a mechanical gauge I just left it and will be sticking with the 60 psi oil pressure gauge.

Hi Zach,

Sounds like someone may have swapped a newer cluster into that 75 sometime in the past. I don't think the medium duty trucks changed over to electric oil gauges sooner than pick-up trucks but they might have.

In any case, 80psi mechanical oil gauges do exist (I put one in dad's 77 GMC). I thought it came from a 75 medium duty cluster, but it might have been a 73 or 74.

Well I thought about maybe it being a newer cluster too, but it had the ammeter not the voltmeter so I assumed to cluster had to be '75 or older
