Shorten steering column on 56 Apache

I am looking for step by step instructions on how to shorten my 56 Apache steering column. Is there a thread on this or does anyone have some pictures?

Are you talkin about a stock column? If so I've never heard of that. Most put in a later model one. but I have not seen every thing...

Re: Shorten steering column on 56 Apache

There have been a couple of guys take some off the bottom to use the stock enclosed column with a newer box. There are vendors that sell a bottom bearing with the correct steering shaft inside dia. and tube side o.d. I did a quick search and could not find it maybe someone else will remember who did it and chime in.

If your looking to keep a stock column and box then get a 57-59 unit its about 2" shorter. You will need the shifter from the 57-59
