After market steering shafts - worth it?

I spent bucks for a custom built power steering box from Lee Manufacturing and now have concerns about using a stock steering shaft. Will this be a weak link in the system and contribute to steering play. What I'm interested in is hearing from anyone who has used an after market steering shaft (such as Borgeson) in a 67-72 C10/C20. Is there truly a noticeable difference in the feel and response vs stock? Comments and pictures of your set-ups are appreciated!
