prndl gear selecto question
Hi folks, I did some searches but still have a question. My gear pointer on the colum is too far left pass the park line, but the truck is in park. This follows true for the rest of the automatic gears on the pointer on my 68 truck with the exception of drive low 2, i cannot get the selector to that. Could someone explain how to correct this?, step by step. I appreciate it very much...Russ

Re: prndl gear selecto question
Truck in park, block wheels, open hood, locate lever coming out the side of the steering column with a rod attached that goes to the trans. At the top of that rod is a clamp that holds the rod in place, loosen the clamp with a 9/16 wrench. Climb inside and move the shift lever to line up with park, it should move easy and truck should stay in park. If it doesn't stay in park the clamp is not loose enough, return to park, loosen clamp and try again. If it does stay in park, line up indicator and then tighten the clamp on the rod. Clear as mud

Re: prndl gear selecto question
If you are as talented as I am, you might want to grab a buddy......I just couldn't do it all, by myself, and be satisfied it was perfect. But, it ain't hard to do.
