Shock "Dust Boots"

Hey guys my McGaughy shocks (1350, 1850) came with no dust boots over the cylinder. Is this ok or do I need to buy dust boots before I install em?

Also, whats the best way to get the bushings into the shocks? i tried hammering it in and it wouldnt go.

Lastly, on our trucks, do the 1350/1850 shocks use a sleeve in the bushing or not. The bolt will NOT go through the bushing with ANY sleeve installed in the bushing. I only got 1 bolt per shock, do i use old hardware on one end of the shocks? if yes, which end.
