forget cherry bombs!!! or any other glass pack POS for that matter. Run a full new system, headers to dual 2.5" tubes [2.25" if you have under 350cid] to high flow cat convertors, back to mufflers of your choice. You wont get pulled over.

An '87 truck must pass the E test, You must leave your cat on otherwise... you will never pass regardless of which muffler you use.
Remember You only have to pass every 2 years. I suppose you can do things to your truck after the test... depends on how lucky you feel Trucks up to '83 don't have to pass the E test but if they were equiped with a cat from the factory it must be on the truck in case of spot check. Some of the guys with trucks up to '83 are running 2 empty cats and Cherry Bombs thus giving the sound of REAL duals. (on spot checks they only look to see if the cats are installed they don't E test the truck.) So... You need a truck from 73-83 to qualify. Oh !! CTC has Cherry Bombs on sale this week for $26.39

You cant just use a cat converter as your exhaust only i have heard it will and could do harm to your engine. I am not 100% sure but everyone i have ever talked to about it says not to.
