Air bags minus the pump for the rear? Complete Air noob here.
Is it even plausible to install a set of airbags just in the rear? I'm looking to bring the bed height down about 5 inches yet still be able to pump up the rear with an air tank when I have a load to haul.
Do air bags completely replace the rear coils? Or would I need a set of springs to put the bags into? What about the adjustable air shocks? Would I need a set of them as well or could I use a set of lowering springs and a set of air shocks to adjust ride height. Thanks guys! |

You can do either way, run just rear bags and have full adjust ability and yes the bags replace the springs. Or you can run a lowered spring with a set of air shocks that you have to pump up when you have a load. I have a set of "helper air bags" on my Super duty for when I'm towing, not sure if anyone makes a set for the 67-72 though. mine are from firestone. Hope this helps.

Gotcha, so how do I find out what size bags will work? Do I need some kind of bracket kit?
So I can use just a set of lowering springs and inflate air shocks when I wanted to throw my bike in back and that would be enough support for the bed? |

If you just want to haul a dirt bike, I wouldn't even worry about.... I've got -6 springs in the rear with correct shocks and it works just fine. I wouldn't haul a load of firewood with it but that's because I have other trucks I would use for that.

Ok gotcha, so would KYB lowering shocks be considered good for that type of duty?
If I would have to eventually haul firewood would air shocks be the better route to go? Where can I get a good set of them and for how much roughly? |

Spend the money once & wisely..... Just swap in bags & skip the drop springs + 'air shocks'. Check the vendors Suspension Marketplace for suspension items from board supporting vendors. They have just what you seek.

I have replaced the rear springs with air bags and can air them up to carry a load. If you consider 48 bundles of architectural shingles on a wooden pallet a load

How low are you wanting to drop the truck? That affects how things need to be done correctly (& efficiently).

I was seriously considering a 3" spring drop up front and 5 in the rear. What bags would you guys suggest. Naturally, they would come from a vendor here.

Can someone please check the links provided above in post-21 to see if they work? They do for me but I was told they didn't by someone else.
