8 lug conversion
what do I need to do to put 73-87 8lug spindles on my 64 c10? don't want to do a crossmember swap

Why would you want 8 lug on a C 10? I think you have to change out the ball joints and get special tie rod ends.

gonna put 8 lug all around. I tend to use my trucks as trucks. need at least 3/4ton capacity

I was jsut messing around. I love my truck. most guys in here have the c10 bagged, lowered, pretty much a car with a bed. Im keeping my 8 lug. I just replaced my rear end with a 1 ton cooporate 8 lug...got rid of the 4:10 antique gear and updated it to a 373..i plan on putting disks up front from that same truck that are 8 lug. a truck but lowered 4/6....good luck

Buy a 74 to 87 3/4 ton pickup chevy or gmc, or up to a 91 burb 3/4 ton, I just got rid of a 88 3/4 burb for $150.00 you could have used the front crossmember & rear end out of it along with the 8 lug wheels and tires. It will be simpler and less expensive to do it this way and you get disc brakes.......Sorry you missed it. Jumbo on this board is picking it up this am. Kieth
Since you are going to use the truck you really should upgrade it to heavier axles (larger bearings) heavier ball joints, sway bar, more modern tires and wheels........since it really will not cost much more than buying parts and mixing and matching years and models. JMO Kieh |

I have both. A 3/4 ton and and a 1/2 ton. I had a 79 1/2 ton 4x4 that hauled anything I wanted. I overloaded it many times and it just took it. And here are a couple of pix of of the 1/2 ton towing the 3/4 ton..

disconnect the motor mounts and lay a 2x4 flat under the harmonic balancer.
