Re: How will my '65 look with a new chrome grille?
Thanks willyp, Yeah the old grille wasn't too bad....it had alot of scratches and the mesh part was real wavey, it looks better in pic. than in person. Besides, I just couldn't put it back in after we painted the white accent band. Check my other threads (going to be lowered monday) for more pics.

Re: How will my '65 look with a new chrome grille?
Nice upgrade, the truck looks great especially with the white surround. If it’s a reproduction grille it might be a good idea to keep a healthy dose of wax on it. I’ve read several complaints that some brands of aftermarket grilles start rusting within a year when left unattended. The chrome front end and the wheels/tires and beauty rings really compliment each other.

Too bad you cant buy a new one that is just like the original. I feel the chrome ones are too shiny and look kinda out of place compared to stock.

if you have stock guards they wont fit right on a repro bumper from what I have heard.

Re: How will my '65 look with a new chrome grille?
Looks great!
Sidebar: I've told this story before, so forgive me if you've already heard it. That grille was one of the first dies that my dad worked on when he finished his apprenticeship at GM. They had a lot of trouble making that grille, because the little rectangular punches would break off resulting in running scrap parts and costly repairs to the tool. Some of you might be familiar with the GM "Suggestion Program", where you can be paid a cash incentive for ideas that save the corporation money; Dad made enough money from submitting suggestions and improvements on that die that he was able to pay cash for our first pickup, a '69 GMC stepside. Re: How will my '65 look with a new chrome grille?
A good friend has a 65 327 sm blk complete and said I could have it for 1000.00 I'm still debating, I wanted to replace the six with a newer 350 but the 327 with old finned corvette valve covers just has that nostalgia ring to it. Decisions Decisions!

Re: How will my '65 look with a new chrome grille?
I agree on the Corvette valve cover cool factor. Since I already had a 350, I just made a concealed smog adapter and ran the early covers on the 350.
