11:1 compression tells the story.

Re: The 350 chevy should have built
I might just build this instead a big block... I like the torgue band for towing which is what I plan to use my truck for. I have buddy that builds race engines and I'm gonna see what it will cost to build through him.
I'll post back with his thoughts on this Tony Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: The 350 chevy should have built
I can see this was printed in 97 .. now you can pick up a 383 rotating assembly from Scat run the same cam or even better a split duration with more lift and the connecting rods will be less money with no mods and it should make 450 with ease.....

Re: The 350 chevy should have built
joedoh hit the nail on the head... i had a 11.25:1 327 with a tunnel ram, oh, a FEW years ago. It was fast, but I could barely make it between gas stations and the hi compression had me going broke with 104+ octane booster. Luckily I lived near a dragstrip - they had some 108 at $5/gal - and that was 1980. Anyway, the track is closed, I've moved west, and I will never, ever again build anything with anything close to 11:1 anything.

Re: The 350 chevy should have built
I have built almost that same motor only with a 6.125 rod and bigger cam(In my head and on paper) The rods and pistons are pricy! The long rod does help with detonation i can attest to that.

Re: The 350 chevy should have built
they also usef a detonation sensor, but what was the fuel mileage ?
I think we could buy a computer controled 6.2 and get the same hp and better fuel mileage......in a vortec engine. |
