64-66 style Dash Swap/interior re-do questions
I am going to swap a 64-66 Truck dash into my 85 and also do some interior upgrades at the same time. I am looking at putting some of the rod doors door panels on and don't want to put the window/lock switches on the door panels so I was thinking I would move them to the dash when I swap it in. I am going for the pro-street look and I thought about using some of these switches:
http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...TCH-20A/1.html Do you think those will handle the windows and locks? I will also do the relay mod for the windows as well. I will have a switch panel for most of the accessories as well and thought these would fit in.

Re: 64-66 style Dash Swap/interior re-do
I imagine most gentlemen from the 73-87 and the 60-66 forums are going to look at this and go, "HUH?! Wha?!". As a member of both, I think it would be awesome to see how it turns out and I give you a pat on the back for being different.
As far as the switches go....not much help there.

Re: 64-66 style Dash Swap/interior re-do
There was a truck at a local u-pull-it yard here not too long ago that someone started to do that with as well. The dash was in, but that was about it. I kick myself for not taking a couple of pics of that.

Re: 64-66 style Dash Swap/interior re-do
Window switches usually are built to reverse the polarity to the window motor for up and down, so a simple togle switch will not work....

Re: 64-66 style Dash Swap/interior re-do
I am definitely not the 1st to try this, KQQL IT actually has his in, I am still collecting parts, plus it is kind of hard for me to work on my truck right now.
One of the biggest reasons for me doing this is I don't like the way aftermarket gauges mount to our dashes. Yes it can be done and it looks good, but I still worry about the mounting when behind the bezel. And forget about a Covan's dash, I think those look cheap and out of place our trucks. Plus I never have to worry about the dash pad again.

Re: 64-66 style Dash Swap/interior re-do
Malibu, I have though about those, but if I do go with the rod doors panels I don't want any switches on them. I will most likely just mount the window/lock switches on the dash rather than the toggle.

Re: 64-66 style Dash Swap/interior re-do
I'm working on customizing the whole dash using an instrument surround from a '57 Edsel. This is going to take a while, but when I'm finished I'll post a couple of pics. I'm still figuring out how to do some of it.
