I am going to regret this one....
Driving through my small town and pulling into the O'reilly's changed my plans. For the 3rd time in 6 months this gentelman asked me what it would take to buy my truck. I told him $7500 so he would leave me alone. All that did was make him go to the bank and get a cashiers check made out in my name. Tonight he gets the truck and title and I have an open bay in my shop. Not sure what I just did...

That's a good price I'd say. Now go find a cheap C10 to build hahaha Need to fill that garage back up again.

Re: I am going to regret this one....
Sounds like you just sold your truck for a little less than what someone thought it was worth. Kinda sucks to slow down and look at the big picture sometimes.

Re: I am going to regret this one....
Wow! I always thought I would ask $7500 for mine if someone asked, I better raise that to $8000 now.

What is worse is when you give them a price and they say "that's all you want" ??? It happened to me with my '63 Buick....

Re: I am going to regret this one....
Little by little it does seem the market for our trucks is coming back.....certainly not stupid Barret Jackson money....but enough money to justify putting the time, effort, and money into our trucks. Even if some of us don't plan on selling its' nice to know others value what we have!

Re: I am going to regret this one....
Scenarios like this are why I just answer with a flat out "sorry, it's not for sale" . I'm afraid if I throw out a number they might say yes

Re: I am going to regret this one....
That 50th 4X4 looks to be a really nice truck, plus you have $2500 of seed money to get it to where you want it.

The good news is that my Tarot cards say you were going to wreck that in a couple of days so I'd say you did pretty good. Scrap value is not that much! lol

Re: I am going to regret this one....
I've got a couple regrets myself... but the great thing is that there are many trucks out there. Just need to be patient and find the right one for you. Another one will come along... and if you take your time (and who knows - maybe it's right around the corner), you might just end up with something much better.
Congrats on the sale.

Re: I am going to regret this one....
I had something similar happen. Blazers are hard to find in nice condition here. I found a nice one in Oregon, bought it for $4000. Drove it for a year, it was going to become my pretty Blazer. Well someone asked, would you wanna sell your Blazer,,,,Not for sale. Whats the not for sale price? Oh Oh. Well I told him $12000, thinking he would just say I'm crazy and that would be it. Nope he wanted to buy it. I hopped on this site to see if there was a replacement, and yup, found one that was just posted for sale, phoned and bought it sight un seen, but from someone I know and trust. So I went from 72 cst to 72 cst with a/c and some extra funds. Next time someone wants to buy my truck the price will be one MILLION dollars, maybe that will let them know its not for sale. I don't think I don't think I could have sold the first one without finding a suitable replacement first. The guy that bought my Blazer then spent $25000 redoing it all.

Re: I am going to regret this one....
One door always opens another =)
Every time I drive through Bozeman MT (every 6 months or so) there is a bright red GMC 4X4 on a used car lot for sale at around that price that is in GREAT condition. My wife has started going around it because I always get out and ask her permission to get it. =) |

Re: I am going to regret this one....
i guess my question is why did you select $7500 as the magic number? i think we have to consider if the "fish" "bites" then what would it take in effort---money and time to get another equivalent truck? In this case, if it takes much less than $7500 to get an equivalent (or very close) then it may have been a good move.
In my case i need at least $6000 cash to make it worthwhile to find another 1/2 ton with stockish engine/drivetrain and no rust and complete and very stock---no illogical(tweaker, redneck, or ghetto) modifications. And then, the replacement would have to cost no more than $3000 including any repairs nessesary to get it legal. b) i personally think it's rude to ask to buy something if there is no for sale sign on it or if it is not advertised as such. |
