looking for decent rumble

ok so im looking for a decent rumble. im not looking to wake up the block but just enough so when i punch it you know i did. im thinking duals but idk yet im torn any ideas video clips would be great

Duals are a must, stay in the 2 inch to 2 1/4 inch pipe. Any exaust shop will set u up with some nice flowmasters for under a grand. If your broke like me I love old school Cherry Bomb glass packs.

Ive had mixed results with glasspacks.... current set on my '87 Chev arent bad at idle or cruising but bark very loud when I'm on it. Other trucks I've had have been mellower. Im also running dual 2 1/2 inch pipe and headers, so doesnt help with noise control.

i will be running headers and im looking for rumble not wake the neighbors but i currently have no exhaust whatsoever cause i had a i6 and im going to a v8 so currently i only have one and pipe its kinda different sections of pipe not pretty and it has a thrush muffler so i was thinking about just putting another on for now until i can afford pretty duals

or my other option is to run my pipes into one muffler with 2 inlet and 1 out

If you can weld and have a welder (or at least a buddy that can), you can do a basic duel exhaust for not a huge amount of money... I was able to do that on my '87. If I remember right Im into my setup about $125 going the glasspack route. Mellower but still nice rumble type mufflers will likely be a bit more. May be worth pricing exhaust pieces out. Don't know about where youre at but many of the auto parts stores here sell nearly all a person needs to make thier own exhaust. Just an idea worth checking into...

the quietest, good flowing muffler I have used is a Magnaflow. Very mellow, but you will know when you get into it. Wish I had a sound clip of them, but they are not the cheapest thing..

too bad you arent closer, I have a couple glasspacks sitting here you could have just to get something on it.

look up spintech mufflers, I SWEAR they are the nicest mufflers you hear, best flow and still quiet if you want quiet that is, the do loud pretty good too

You never did say what your engine is ?

that would help picking the Pipe size

3 inches in --2- 2 1/2 coming out of muffler will give you all the rumble you want plus save you a couple of bucks . Unless you are putting out 450-500 hp 1 good flowmaster (or equivalent ) is enough >sound & performance. Just keep the muffler closer to the front ,than the rear . Mine is bout midway .sorry i dont have video clip.

my friend has this with thrush welded mufflers and its prob louder than you want but with some mellower turbo mufflers you should get the sound your looking for.
the xpipe helps to mellow out drone and overall noise level while providing a chest vibrating rumble. just make sure you dump the mufflers to the ground to enhance the rumble effect

That is my exact setup! lol tho i did not use the X-pipe. I dumped to the ground and man im telling ya. It not crasy loud at idle but when you snap the throttle everyone around you will know it I promise. I really enjoy my thrush's

Having just gone through this process myself, I can tell you what I was looking for, and what the end result was. I bought my truck with dual exhaust, factory exhaust manifolds, Cherry Bombs, and dumps before the axle. Loud, obnoxious, no defined tone whatsoever. I figured this was the dream sound of the highschool kid I bought it from.

I use my truck for daily driving, road trips, and work. I wanted to be able to hear a slight rumble, not wake up the neighborhood, and carry a conversation in the cab at a normal volume. I went with "Thrush Turbo Mufflers", long tube headers, 2.25" dual exhaust, and tailpipes that turn out behind each wheel. I LOVE THIS SET UP. Cheap, quiet, and saw mileage/performance gains. If you are looking for a little more rumble than the turbos, go with the "Thrush Hush" or "Thrush Welded" Mufflers. All affordable, durable, and offer a good range of tones. They're comparable to Summit pricing, but you can pick them up at O'reilly's or Advance.

I'm pleased with my set up. I'll try to get some audio up for you to hear.

I will try and get a vid of my buddies 2 1/2 in xpipe system with thrush mufflers on his truck its definitly loud when your on it and flowmasters for sure give a more defined quality tone, but you can beat the price of 65$ for both mufflers were as you cant even one get one flowmaster for that price practicly.

thats the setup im wanting just curious what size are your header collectors my headers are 3". one more question how far back are your mufflers from your headers im going to build my own and the local shop sells piping by the foot
