Re: Amp info...
The Orion 225-hcca looks like a 25Wx2ch. The Carver M240 is 120Wx2ch.
It took about under a minute to find info on both through Google. |

Re: Amp info...
you could easly make a quick turn around on the orion if you sold it on ebay and probobely the same with the carver and get somthing newer. unless you want the old school stuff nothing wrong with it if it works but the're colectable to some people and even broken you could get a decent price for them just my .02, what kicker comps are they just regular comps or cvrs? and what ohms?

Re: Amp info...
The HCCA is a classic cheater amp. 25w x2 at 4ohms and 12v. I think the measured output on those was somewhere around 400w x2 at .5ohms and 14.4v. I know people who have gotten more than 600w a channel out of those, awesome amp.

Re: Amp info...
Quote:
Know that MOST amps don't support loads bellow 2ohms. So called "High Current" amps are designed for 1ohm or less load. We built a truck running four 10" subs and 14 component speakers off a 100watt amp in the pro class IASCA. Won nationals in '89 with that truck, too. So an example with that amp. Take two dual 2ohm voice coil subs. Each sub wired in parallel with itself is a 1ohm load. Wire both subs in parallel and you have a .5ohm load. If you used the 2 parallel subs and wired them to the bridged output of the amp, that would be a .25ohm load on the bridged channel. You would be looking at something close to 300W per sub, or 600w total dynamic output based on load. OK, that was a bit long but I hope that makes sense.
