Questions about a disc brake conversion on a 69 K10
So, I'm building a 69 K10, and interested in doing a disk brake conversion. I happened to pickup a rebuilt Dana 44 out of a 1981 K20 complete with disc brakes.
Am I on the right track? I'm assuming I should also pick up a master cylinder for a 81ish K20. And probably the front brake lines and proportioning valve. Any idea if the current brake booster is good to go? I noticed that there are sometimes different piston sizes in the master cylinders available. What should I be looking for? Hey, thanks for the help guys. |

You can do it just by replacing to prop valve and removing the check valve from your MC, but it may just be easier to pull a booster-MC-prop valve assembly off a donor truck. It all depends on your budget really. I used to go to Ecology down in Vista, or Gallants in Oceanside when I lived in Fallbrook. I was actually there 2 weeks ago and I have to say I MISS IT!!!!!!!

Re: Questions about a disc brake conversion on a 69 K10
Okay, so I picked up a proportioning valve with the proper residual check valves from CPP. I also purchased the correct rubber lines for the new axle.
Any idea if the flex lines will bolt up to the hard lines in the frame? I'm putting off cracking open the brake lines to check because I really don't want to have to bleed the brakes again.

Good chance that the 1981 axle assy is a 10 bolt and not a 44
