Back with a 55
I have been hanging around this forum for a couple of years first with a 55 big back window truck and then with a 65 step side. Sold the 55 to fund my 32 Ford roadster and the 65 to help with a C5 convertible. Just bought a 55 short step in Wa. and should be back in the frozen north at the end of the week. Needs some tlc but otherwise a fairly solid truck. Plans are to keep it fairly original and will be my daily driver replacing a boring Cavalier

Re: Back with a 55
Just ordered up a spacer to install a S10 T5 in my truck this afternoon. Near impo$$ible to find a Camaro WC with 2.95`s but managed to get a 88 S10 with the 3.78`s which should work great with my 3.90 rear.

Why the heck does a canadian need a roadster!? you must get but 7 days a year to enjoy it! hah .. just kidding.
Glad to see another '55 found someone to take care of em. Looks like a solid truck, WAY nicer than what I started out with... congrats! More pics?????? |

Well since the roadster has never been on the road, the weather has never been an issue 10 years and still building but getting closer. Shipped off the water pump last week to Ford Racing for warranty. I will work on the pics.

Re: Back with a 55
hey thanks hb32 - i just made one from scratch for my 66 - that LOOKS like it would work with a v8, even though made for a 6. I'd MUCH rather have bought one than made one. I tried to buy Hamilton Intakes' S10T5 adapter but they completely flaked out with endless whining about their foundry screwing them, etc etc... They barely even wrote back when I was trying to order. Built my own, then got a call from them several months later, still saying their foundry was holding them up. Whatever dude.
The ad says it's good for bell hsgs up to 62 - but I thought 60-66 were all the same... Maybe it clears the slave cylinder on them but won't work with a non-slave cyl bell hsg(?) Anyhoo, thanks again! Nice truck. |

Re: Back with a 55
hey - one more T5 question for you - does the stock speedo cable mate to a T5 or is it a different size? (I know it's not long enough, but I used a 20" cable extension, and have a leak problem at the speedo cable connection on the trans - it leaked with no cable on it and it leaks WITH a cable on it). Kind of killin my T5 fun.... Just wondering if there was a right/wrong way of connecting a stock speedo cable to a T5 - or if my leak is just trans-related at the speedo connection point.... should they leak when no cable is hooked up?? I know it shouldn't leak after one is hooked up, but trying to troubleshoot!

Re: Back with a 55
cool - thanks. I'm thinking I probably need a new speedo gear hsg and O-ring and seal. A new steal hsg with ring n seal is only about $7, so I may just get one anyway. Funny how much trouble and worry I'll go to just to avoid having to drain my trans fluid ONE more time.... I'll dig into it tomorrow I suppose. Let me know how your connection goes - thanks! btw, here's a thread that might provide some help, might not - you've already got a great adapter plate, so you have this thing licked I think! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=482069

Re: Back with a 55
What's the plan for the suspension and brakes?
I'm picking up my uncles '58 Chevy and need to learn the ins and outs of these. Maybe we will run into each other at a cruise some time.

Re: Back with a 55
Nothing as it is staying pretty much the way it is. I will install the T5, Fenton split manifolds for dual exhaust and if I can find the right manifold, a Holley 390. I like the 235 and the proverbial patina as most of them out there have been slammed, chopped, sectioned, narrowed, V8`d etc, etc, etc. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I searched for one that had not been altered to be different.
