steering??
Why doesnt someone make a good steering box that bolts in the factory holes
fits like stock and works well for our trucks I t would be a sure winnner Gene Sharp |

While I haven't use one, I have been told and seen that a Toyota 4x4 box from late 70's to early 80's does what you want. A lot of people forget or don't know that Toyota copied most of there designs from early Chevy and GMC trucks and made improvements. The 235 chevy and 228 gmc engines are a good example of that. The Toyota head for the FJ is almost identical to a 235 and the rocker arms are almost identical to the 228, 248 GMC engines.

I have seen a picture of the Toyota setup and it is far from a perfect fit
Offset by an inch or so double u-joint coupler could be better I am talking about something like the units available for the 55 cars that is power a bolt on and works Gene Sharp |

The trucks had a similar unit like the cars. They are very hard to find but they are around.

Thats it ! I think it wil do what I want
Mine will be a resto rod driver Nothing fancy wish there had been a box that worked but will use this and go on it will be a mix pf 50's stuff and modern technology tune port 350 and tremac 5 speed front disk vintage air lake Pipes and chrome reverse wheels frame is out getting sand blasted and painted black Mariner blue clear coat on body Gene Sharp Last edited by Gene Sharp; 08-20-2011 at 05:09 PM. |
