Unity Spotlight Install

I have always dug the look of dual Unity S6 spotlights on our trucks. I finally assembled a pair of the correct GM issue Unity spots with the GM badges and short black handles. However, I couldn't find the correct mounting brackets required for 67-72 truck A-pilars, so I ordered a set directly from Unity. Turns out they had the driver side bracket kit in stock, but not the passenger side. They had to contact their manufacturing plant to have the passenger side bracket cast just for my order! I asked if this would cost me extra, and they said no. I hope they make more than one because it seems like a lot of trouble to go through for one bracket!

Re: Unity Spotlight Install

I have a '67-'72 Driver's side A-pillar Unity bracket, I can look it up for the part number. I still have plans for my artifact so It's not for sale.

I used to drive a former police Crown Vic. The spot light came in handy many times.

Re: Unity Spotlight Install

It took so long because it took me bugging the crap out of Unity to get my passenger side bracket cast by their foundry. I ordered the part (202RH) back in August 2011 and finally got it in December 2011. Seems that there is a major communication issue between Unity front office and the foundry. Anyways, I got both spotlights mounted and I am very pleased with the results. They look great and work good too. However, there is one downside. The passenger side spotlight is obstructed by the radio antenna, so I had to remove the antenna. I plan on welding up the stock antenna mounting hole in the cowl and making a new one about 2 to 3 inches forward on the cowl so i can retain the stock antenna. I guess the trucks that originally came with passenger side spots were work trucks with radio delete option.

I am at work right now, but will take some pictures and post em up soon.

Re: Unity Spotlight Install

Eric - What haven't I been working on is the better question. I cut out ALL rust an repalced with good original metal. Installed a vintage Hickey auxilliary fuel tank over the passenger side wheel tub with fuel neck sticking out of the passenger side rear quarter panel. Installed vintage Hickey side steps in lower rear quarter panels in front of rear tires. Still have not gotten an paint on it yet, but I've redone the entire interior in the original sandalwood and parchment right down to the rear cargo panels. Aftermarket (Vintage Air) A/C is next. Last night I installed a belt driven York A/C compressor with a bracket and pulleys that I scored off this board. I've converted it to be my onboard air compressor to fill up tires, run tools, and supply air to air lockers in the future. My goal is to have the whole deal done by the Brother's truck show this summer.

I'm looking to instal a unity spotlight also, maybe two. Did you ever snap some pics to share? I'd love to see them up close & wonder where you plugged in to the the fuse box. Cheers!

Re: Unity Spotlight Install

Back when it was in one piece....and running... Used the big pic so you can see the mounting on both sides. It's the blown up of my avatar. Personally, I don't like them, and they'll be coming off when its time for paint (or something).
