Sequence for steering gear/column removal

HI! I'll save this job for tomorrow, but I know how to get the pitman arm off. That's one tool I don't have however is a pitman arm puller. How do I get the rest of it out~ does the steering column come out in one piece? I have plenty of room, no seats, no glass in the way to get it out if that were to present a problem.
thanks!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

THanks Jimig! I'll get that column out tomorrow, actually I may put the truck outside first and pressure wash the engine compartment, then pull the column/gear! ; )

CAn you tell me what size the pitman arm nut is, the large nut; I may have to go get one? Or would a large sized adjustable wrench work?

I'm not sure the size of the nut. I used a monkey wrench to get it off and got a pitman arm puller from O'Reilly
