Tailgate hinge question.

Does anybody know if the trunions on the 1954 tailgate hinge are the same outside diameter as the hinges on a 1953? In other words are the cups in the tailgate the same id? Thanks.

They are entirely different tailgates.
The trunnion for the 54 attaches to the extended part of the bed side while the trunnion for the 47/53 trucks bolts on to the stanchion with two bolts.

Thanks for the reply. I know they mount different but I'm trying to make a modification to the tailgate mounting in my 1952 GMC.
