MY Dually

I was told to just leave it alone by 3 people since I will be using it to tow my boat n race trailer. I had a lowered dually for the last 5 years n hmmmm u can see why i have the itch to lower it again..

Scored truck for 3000 clean factory ac worked n is really clean. I put the new gm 98 crew cab front seat in since wife preferred me with a head rest LOL

Truck is 2 wl 1986 factory paint. Helper bags. The owner put 2 265/75/16 in front and 235/85/16 in rear, The Rear needs tires so thats were Do I buy some Goodyear Durtracs to have that look to match front or 225/75/16 n slam it out .. WhAT DO YOU THINK

Re: MY Dually

Leave it be or slam it? How about a compromise? Lower it, but not so much it's a PITA. A 4/6 drop doesn't need the frame to be cut & can still tow anything a stock height truck can handle w/those helper air bags.

Re: MY Dually

If you are looking for someone else to tell you to leave it as is, you are probably asking the wrong bunch of guys. Definitely lower it, you will get a nosebleed with it that high. It's a health issue!

Re: MY Dually

I've got 265's in front and 235's in back. On stock rims I don't believe the 265's would fit in the back without a 2" spacer. Maybe different on the aluminum rims though.

Re: MY Dually

you have to drop it a little at the very least, I think there's a federal law that says stock ride height is elegal (I may be wrong) .

Re: MY Dually

I'm shooting for 5/7 on mine. I don't want to run into interference issues w/the inner fenders/wells (I won't run anything less than a ~29" tall tire up front on this big of a truck).

I know some guys are ok not having inners, but I did it for a while w/a 79 Malibu years ago & it made a mess of everything under the hood. Never again. I don't want the project of modifying the OE inners or building 'new' ones either....

Again, nice ride. The later model behind it looks decent too.

Re: MY Dually

I was looking at 215/70/16 just at 27.9 Is what i was hopping that would clear with no removing of inners .

I know it's not an 'apple-to-apple' comparison, but my old 74 1/2 ton swb was dropped close to (if not) 6" up front & there was no way a 28" tall tire would work (255-40-20) as it rubbed just idling down the alley way. It sucked because I really liked the look of the wheel/tire combo I had tried....

Your proposed size would be just under 28" so it might be real close w/a 6" front drop.

Re: MY Dually

i think the 255 was ur issue the the 8.5 rim vs the 6 inch rim n the 215.
