Quality on aftermarket parts
Hi all!
I bought some parts to my '65, mirrors, restoration kit for the side windows and more. I'm not very happy with the looks and finnish of the parts. Is this what to expect, or do you guys see diffrences between diffrent vendors? Which one can you recommend? Thanks! 2mas (Sweden) |

Re: Quality on aftermarket parts
It's all pretty much chinese junk, made by folks who have never laid eyes on any old Chevy truck, IMO. I use good used OE stuff when possible.

Re: Quality on aftermarket parts
I too have ran into the same for my 61. For the side windows and vent windows some of the stuff had to be modified in order to "fit" correctly. Kinda lame but, this is what we have to work with unfortunately. The gaskets for my running lights in the hood didn't even come close to fitting lol! They were cheap felt pieces that wouldn't even held up to moisture anyway. They fit in the trash can though lol!

Re: Quality on aftermarket parts
Mar-K has mostly bed parts that they make here in the U.S. As for anything else it's pretty much a crap shoot.

Re: Quality on aftermarket parts
You kinda have to just search all of them. Some have cheaper prices than others on different things. I've had good luck with classicparts.com

Re: Quality on aftermarket parts
Tried Classic p, cheap but no real fit. The round mirror does not allign with the arm at all, making it look bad. Angle on the arm is wrong.
But I like the low pricing also, so I'm quite happy anyway. ;-) By the way, when mounting the new mirrors in the premarked holes in the door, I can hardly see the right mirror due to the ventilation window post... Is this right? As I understand these mirrors should be like stock? BR /2mas |

Re: Quality on aftermarket parts
I really don't know about the mirror, my truck came with rectangle mirrors but, the passenger side was missing lol! I don't plan on replacing them until later down the road after paint. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.
