Universal side molding
Has anyone ever used the universal side molding they sell at JC Whitney?
I was thinking of putting the lower molding on since I don't have the dough for a "real" kit. I'm not really trying to stay orginal, I just don't want something that looks cheap. Thanks for the help. |

Re: Universal side molding
Thanks for the input guys. Does anyone have any picture of trucks with the universal trim? Also, where can I get the best deal on factory stuff? How easy is the factory stuff to install? Mine doesn't have any trim on it now, so it would be a fresh install with no holes. Thanks again for the input.

Re: Universal side molding
That looks pretty good to me. I was actually thinking about the same style trim. Keep the pictures coming.

Re: Universal side molding
I'd say if you can obtain the kind of results shown in the pics, go for it. The thin lower universal makes the truck look leaner. The stock lower trim on 69&ups is kinda chubby.

Re: Universal side molding
I think the stuff at JC Whitney will look like what it is, cheap, cheap, cheap..... I think a good quality stick on is the way to go for a nice looking, simple and clean driver. It's also easy on the budget. I used molding from Trim-Gard, lots of choices and proce was not bad.
I used a stick on upper and will use stick on to replace the lower, by the time I polish, replace woodgrain, buy clips and everyhting it would cost way more to use oem. If anyone wants to buy a full set of driver quality molding and go through the pain I have it.... |

*Mods sorry if I'm not supposed to post links?? I am not affiliated with this palce in anyway just something I found. here is what I found that I am thinking of using they offer alot of GM type of trim and different sizes that will work and look similar to stock. bottom molding I was thinking of using it is 2 & 1/4 width or this one which is more textured looking in the middle then this one for the top it is available in different widths this stuff looks closer to the stock one because it is chrome on the outside and blk on the inside.
