Hello! My name is steve and im knew to the 67-72 truck scene. Im wanting to convert my truck from 6 lug to 5 lug only because im hooked on the torque thrust wheels and want a set bad. What would be the best and easiest rearend to install without alot of modifications? My truck is a 69 c-10. What year make and model should i be looking for? Hope someone can help thanks!

Re: 5 lug rearend conversion
its easies to stick with 67-72 chevy parts but you can use anything but if your truck has trailing arms you will need to use the piece that bolts the rear end to the trailing arm off your rear end or buy the new piece to weld to your new rear end or if needed i have a 5 lug rearend from a 71 chevy pickup to sell not listed yet but you can pm me to talk about it and we are not that far away from each other

Re: 5 lug rearend conversion
The easiest is to buy a new set of axles from moser engineering and just slide them in and your done(20 Mins). The cheapest would be to have your old axles re-drilled (if their any good) by a machine shop, or send them to Moser for redrilling thats it. short of swapping a whole rear end, and that be stupid unless you got the whole rear cheap, you knew that rear was good, u will probably new u bolts, and a weekend to put it in. just not worth all the hassle

Re: 5 lug rearend conversion
I converted mine from 6 to 5 by swapping the axles as mrhino suggested. I purchased mine from Classic performance products (CPP)
http://www.classicperform.com/Store/.../6369RAC-5.htm Easy swap, I also added 17" torque thrust II's at the same time.

Re: 5 lug rearend conversion
Get conversion axles.
Then add 71-72 5-lug brake drums.

Re: 5 lug rearend conversion
i good a good already painted 5 lug rearend from a local member who swapped rearends for diff gear ratio..
thanks again matt gave 150 for it, and it oughta hold up good for quite some time i hope. already had new u bolts so i just needed gear oil and swapped my brakes over (new on the 6 bolt)

Re: 5 lug rearend conversion
I know this is old, but will the axle swaps work on a 1969 3/4ton 8 lug. I want to go to 5 lug.
