axles not centered under body??

front axles not centered under body??

I picked up a parts truck over the weekend and when i got it home i compared the location of the axles to the body for both trucks and they are both the same, but they are both shifted to the passenger side. I asked my uncle and he said they came like that from the factory?

Have I been under a rock somewhere and didn't realize that four wheel drive 67-72+ trucks/blazers have the front axles shifted to the passenger side?? by nearly an inch?
