Budget interior restoration pics
Just a couple details left but time to show the results.
This was a budget restore starting with a cab that had been butchered and beaten. It's a 72 a/c cab, original color scheme according to SPID was blue/ white/ blue. Nothing electrical was working on the truck when I got it in January. So biggest expense on the restore was a complete wiring harness from American Auto Wire. Most everything else came used from EBay (restored by me), parts board here (restored by me), and vendors here, with a few pieces from LMC, and Classic Parts. I don't have enough before pictures because I didn't think I was going to do very much, but after stripping the dash for the rewire I figured I might as well. First 2 pics are the only before pics, then 1 in process pics, and finally 2 from today. Still need to put in carpet and decide what to do with kick panels. If you want to know, the color is rattle can rustoleum "sail blue" Let me know what you think. Last edited by dcasalena; 09-03-2011 at 09:18 PM. |

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
I'm not aiming for a show truck here obviously, but my wife says she'll ride in it now.

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
I think it looks great. Just goes to show what you can do with a little elbow grease.

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
That looks great! Did you have the seat done or is that a seatcover? If the latter, where did you get it and how hard was it to install?

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
seatcover came from pickupman on the vendors marketplace. He ran a sale a few months ago.
Wasn't difficult at all to install, I just punched some holes with a small phillips head and pulled it tight with zipties (about as many as there were clips on the original cover). I wish I had pics of the old seat cover, looked like he put out his cigarettes on the seat when he couldn't throw them out the window during fire season. Re: Budget interior restoration pics
That is a cool, nice job man!
You can't beat that feeling of knowing you did it yourself! I found these last week for small paint jobs these things work great. They will paint up to about 7 oz. of paint. That's a lot of paint to! They are more expensive than paint cans but you get custom colors also if you know what you want. I'm not no painter by no means but I thought the cooler turned out great!

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
hand sanded with 3 different grit sandpapers then a course steel wool then a fine steel wool. Then wiped everything down with denatured alcohol several times till the rag came away clean.

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
I think it came out great. Nice job! I did the same project awhile back, painting the dash. It was a lot of work but it is so nice to look at fresh paint while sitting/ driving the truck. I am still working on painting the rest of the interior of my truck. How is the rest of your cab interior? Any pictures you would care to show?

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
By the way, I believe your instrument dash cluster is from a 67/68. I like the seat cover as well. That came out very nice as well.
Good job! Keith |

Re: Budget interior restoration pics
Ok I see that you have installed the correct one after painting. The old one is from a 1967-1968 instrument dash gauge cluster.
