Starts sluggish?

My 88 with 150K miles on it starts kinds slow to me. 800CCA battery thats around 2 years old, I dont know about the starter. Cold it takes about 5 full seconds to kick over and it isn't real fast. When it's warm its about 3 full seconds, still slow to me. What do you guys think?

I think I should take the cables off, scrub the ends to make sure they are super clean(no current corrosion though)and put some dielectric grease on the ends. And I also found out the plugs in my truck aren't the good stock AC Delco ones, they are Bosch Platinum Plus(ew). So I will spends the $15 and order some from RockAuto and gap them at .035 like they should be. Thanks, Bradley

Re: Starts sluggish?

bring the battery somewhere that has a battery tester, check the cca's after 2 years you probably are not at 800 anymore, I had the same issue, I just installed a red top optima, world of difference.

Re: Starts sluggish?

The starter in my Burb got really slow about a month before it went out totally.

Also the starter on my jeep got slow as well and I found out I had an oil leak and it was leaking on my starter and the insides were all oiled up. I took it apart and cleaned it all with brake cleaner and it is still working like a champ.
