A/C in 1950 Advance Design
Does the Vintage Air unit or Old Air unit use the fresh air intake on the right cowl panel? If not, do you just cover over the opening inside? Has anyone made an opening door/panel to allow in outside air?
Just some A/C questions..... |

The Vintage Air one does not. You need to cover it. I am running my hoses under the fender and up through there to hide them.

I will take some tonight and post them tomorrow. I don't have the hoses done yet as I was laid up for awhile. Going to get working on it again soon as my goal was to get it tore back down to start the frame up.

Yes get rid of the hoses, hide them !!
No need for outside air down here as it is HOT AIR! I cut all the louvers out and welded in a flat plateon both of my trucks

Looks good solid axle. Same thing I am doing. I am going to make a tube that runs inside the inner fender to run the hoses through. Then will make a cover for the inside of the cowl. The fitting inside the truck will probably need to be changed depending on what the hoses want to do.

Why do you need the bulk head fittings?
Remove them and save some leaks in the future, just remove the metal between the fittings that is what is did with my two trucks. There is plenty of room for four rubber hoses and the condensate line in that area and you can get a better shot at the evap. with just the hoses. I did split some rubber hose and wrap the edges of the sheetmetal to protect the hoses after this pic was taken, this was a test fit.

I can tell you the Old Air unit requires the covering of the fresh air vent too. They provide a plate.

Thanks for the info....Looks like a lot of hoses to be exposed up in the fenderwell though. I'll probably go with the Vintage air unit....
