Cab Mount Question
Anybody know why Chevy used the "shackle" type cab mounts for the year mounts on the 47-54 truck cabs? I would think that more rigid mounts like the front ones would best best all the way around. Figured there must be a good reason but I can't figure it out.

Re: Cab Mount Question
They act somewhat of a suspension for the cab and allow some up and down movement on uneven terrain when the frame flexes.

Re: Cab Mount Question
47-48 didn't use shackles, they a single cab mount in the center rear of the cab.

Re: Cab Mount Question
They were used to compensate for frame flex. If you rigid mount the cab in the rear corners, you'll lose frame flexibility, which isn't a big deal on the street.
More importantly - why doesn't anyone make these? I need a set, and they're next to impossible to find.
