parking brake cables
I have a 50 with stock cable holder on the frame and the stock crossbar and a 67 car 12 bolt with 11" drum brakes. Am looking at what will fit cable wise and hoping someone has got a number as there is quite a few choices out there. Do the originals connect to the park brake in the drum the same as later gm brakes. The final choice might the setup lokar has for our trucks.
thanks |

Re: parking brake cables
It would take a little fabricating but you should be able to have an end swagged on the later model cable that would connect it to the trucks park brake arm/shaft. you would have to build brackets for the cable housings under the frame but that shouldn't be a big deal. I don't have any of the old pieces off either of my frames left to be able to tell exactly what needs to be done but it shouldn't be real hard to figure out.

I have had real good luck with Control Cables Inc.
They will make ends to match what ever you have and there prices are reasonable, and best of all they fit and work the first time

Re: parking brake cables
^ agree w/ solidaxel - control cables inc. did a great job on building new cables for my 57 - am running a vette rear axle - sent them my measurments; a 57 original cable and they made up 2 that work great - just my 2 cents.

Re: parking brake cables
I also used Control Cable for my brake set up. They can make up anything you need for less than the big brand names. They also made my carb linkage and supplied me with the gas peddal also. They make all the cables the Los Angeles County Fire Department. They are nice people to deal with. I have been to their shop and they make every kind of cable applications you can think of for any type of use.

Re: parking brake cables
Another happy Control Cables customer here. I got rid of all of that old linkage on my 57 and had them make cables from the handle to the wheels. Great folks to work with.
