Re: Radiator for for warmed small block
I have a 'Ron Davis Racing' radiator in the '57.
They didn't have any patterns at the time, so I brought my old radiator in for them to pattern. It took them 4 weeks to get it to me but probably now they have a few in stock and I had to get in line. Now you can just order one, and they will build it quick. Kind of pricey, but I haven't had any problems with cooling my pickup for 16 years with their radiator. In 115 degree heat, (no A/C) my temperature with a real B&M engine oil cooler is usually around 180 with a 160 thermostat. I have changed coolant every 2-3 years, so I get most of the built up acids out. If you install an aluminum radiator, be sure to ground it and use a sacrificial anode cap. You don't have to remove any gussets with it, and the cap is in the middle along with the radiator hose just like the original. Last edited by Coupeguy2001; 10-16-2011 at 10:02 AM. |

Re: Radiator for for warmed small block
I'm running a 2.5 ton truck radiator in mine. 1" thicker and a little deeper, bolts to the stock small truck support location. I got mine from a truck that the guy got for the cab and front clip and was going to scrap the rest.

Re: Radiator for for warmed small block
Thanks. Where this says, gussets removed - what exactly does that mean? That is where the support attaches to the frame...

i ran one of those for years and it keep the engine cool under a lot of conditions including towing a 15 ft travel trailer over mountain passes. They are hard to find in good shape though. |

Re: Radiator for for warmed small block
I anticipate spending a lot of time running pretty slow in the hills. Also am setting it up to maybe tow a small Airstream type trailer. Mine passed an air test, still have to see if it will hold water under pressure.
