Gathering parts , have a question
So far I have a 2006 5.3 and harness, a 2000 harness and computer , motor mount plate adapters , flywheel spacer is ordered ....
So here is the question, will the 2000 computer work with the 06 harness and engine, my cousin has the entire EFI live suite and will take care of the programing changes but he is not around right now and I need to know if I need to look for a new pcm. The pcm I have is from a 6.0. I plan on using the 2006 harness and am hoping to delete the wired throttle body , I have already picked up a cable throttle body. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Keith |

Re: Gathering parts , have a question
I dont think it will work, there are two kinds of PCM's one is blue/green and the other is for the DBW with the 58x reluctor ( I think that is right).
If it was me, I would get an aftermarket harness, sell the two you have and the PCM you have and buy the correct PCM. but that is me.

Re: Gathering parts , have a question
I appreciate your comments but I'm confused , on one hand everyone talks about how easy it is to modify the factory harness and the directions are easy to find , but no one seems to recommend this approach.
I have located a 2006 computer since the original post. Thanks Keith |

Re: Gathering parts , have a question
From what I understand, you need to have the harness and PCM match the motor. It has part to do with type and location of sensors on the motor, the previously mentioned reluctor and not all DBW pedals are the same. I just read that the wrong pedal assembly can cause the PCM to go into limp mode...

Re: Gathering parts , have a question
Have the company that is going to do your harness and PCM set it up for a cable style TB and it all will work.

Re: Gathering parts , have a question
www.lt1swap.com has the step by step instructions and converting a harness is not hard IMO, just time consuming.

I'm in the process of reworking my harness right now. I have struggled ever since I removed the pins recommended at the LT1swap site. It may be easy if you are good with wiring (I'm not). If there is a step by step to get it all the way completed and you find it let me know. I would buy it. |
