Re: timing ?
I`m guessing 8 degrees before tdc would be a good starting point...

Re: timing ?
On line it read 4-6 tdc
The motors just a stock 454 It starts great but when it get warmed up 185-205 it sounds like it's laboring.......has a hard time turning over.....new starter /new battery and new wire to starter and from battery to starter. Good ground.....got to be the timing. thanks again |

Re: timing ?
One thing comes to mind...next time its warmed up, when you go to start it have some else start it and watch your starter sinse you have that issue maybe its moving on you and binding up, if not its a timing issue.

Re: timing ?
I know on my 454 I had to shim the starter to get the gears to mesh right. Another thing to look at is the gage of battery cable going to the starter it needs a big one. Try to add another ground see if that works. Make sure you have a good starter. If it,s a auto parts rebuild it could be bad .
My race truck had this problem because the headers are close to the starter got it to hot. I bought a heat blanket from Nape no more starter problems. Hope this helps good luck. |
