New look in engine bay
A couple months ago, my thermostat stuck and I overheated my engine, which caused the oil to get real thin, which caused 3 wiped cam lobes and several weak springs. In the process of swapping cams, I had to lift the engine to get the pan off, so I just unbolted everything and pulled it out. While out, I repainted the engine, valve covers, pulleys, t-stat housing, etc., etc. I reversed my color theme a little bit. I also put on my custom made wire looms.
Here's the end result. Let me know what you think. Here's what it looked like before.

Re: New look in engine bay
Looks great! Although I liked the before too
What about painting the recess in the valve covers with the block/intake color (reverse of what you had before)

Re: New look in engine bay
Thanks, guys!! The wire looms were pretty easy, really. I started with a 36" piece of 1" tubing, cut it in half for 2) 18" pieces. I then measured where I wanted the mounting tabs to be and measured where the wires would exit just over each plug. I had a machine shop(only because I don't have the proper tools) drill the 9/16" holes for each wire. The machine shop also made me some stainless plugs to go into one end. A buddy came and welded the tabs in place.
I got the grommets from NAPA. I still have the box at home so I'll look at the part # this evening. The only down side to the grommets from NAPA is they come in boxes of 7. I was able to get boots from the distributor end off to be able to run the wires through, then just reattach the boots. If your making these with new wires, you will need the cut-to-fit style. Make sure to run through the looms before attaching boots.

Re: New look in engine bay
i like it both ways i really appreciate the not overly chromed look i'm getting sick of seeing chrome everywhere. i'm gonna change my stuff out to original valve covers and breather soon i think. i really like the loom idea.

Re: New look in engine bay
It does look good to me, but I liked the blue engine and gray valve covers better. It is a opinion thing and we all know that opinions are like .......... and they all stink. The important part is if you like it.

Re: New look in engine bay
Overall I think I liked the blue block and grey covers better, too. The blue paint was peeling on the block, though, and needed repainting. I just wanted a different look. I'm still happy with the way it looks. This is all really just to get me by another season so I can get ready for an LSx swap.

I like the blue block and grey valve covers myself, but they both look really nice. Great job on the custom wire looms too

Matt, it's hard to improve on perfect but you keep finding a way. I was a fan of your truck when it was black, and then you changed it to blue.It is a head turner anywhere you go and you have every reason to be proud.
