leaf spring liner question

I am going to be rebuilding some leaf spring packs and have a question. How much liner do you need between each leaf? The stock liners seem too short to help much, but I am surely missing something since they were engineered that way in the first place, so that must be enough.

Re: leaf spring liner question

OE manufacturing is building autos while getting the most out of their investment per dollar spent. Why spend the $$ to line the entire length of the spring on 1 truck when you can do 5 trucks w/the same amount of material just on the ends?

Reducing friction between the springs will yield better results. Whether it will be noticeable or not is subjective. One guy might notice a distinct difference, another might not. Since your tweaking things, it definitely won't hurt to line the entire length if it's within your budget to do so.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
