How much extra threads on U bolts need to stick out to be able to run a drop block?..

Looking under my truck earlier, noticed I have a little over an inch sticking down past the nuts. How much extra threads will I need (say if I ran a 1" block) to stick out?

This make sense? I'll try to get pix

And is it 7/8 or 3/4" hole?

Given how many foot lbs is needed to torque these down, I'd be comfortable with just a few threads being visible...in fact, I cut mine down after torquing anyways.

I don't know the hole size, but I'm pretty sure the bolt size is 1 1/4".

I have 1 1/8" of thread sticking past the nut (maybe a bit more but 1 1/8" to be safe).

So could I squeeze a 1" drop block in there

I would replace the U-bolts and add the block you want. U-bolts are cheap to buy so why risk it.

U bolts are new....(less than a year..)

Yes.
I drill my drop blocks with a 7/8" drill bit.
The u-bolts should be 3/4" diameter.

Again,... YES.

I use drop block to gain the maximum drop.
My first choice would be drop springs.

Do they make a HD dropped spring lolife (you would know)?

I only want 1-3" (realize 3" shouldnt be attempted with a block).

I didnt know, thought burbs or 3/4 tons might have their own drop spring

i have heard that the burbs do have their own drop springs for the rear do to being heavier, as far as 3" blocks they can be done (i have some i made on my burb but i run 20" wheels) but no more than i believe a 2" block is recommended with 15" wheels

Called fastenall, there checking some prices for me on 2" u bolts (already have blocks ready).

Going down to Tampa Bay Fl area for the next 2 weeks, I located some spring shops so hopefully I can get some U bolts made on the cheap. Anyone know if they'll let you take 2 u bolts on a airplane, or should I try to flat rate box them to myself in TN LOL

It's your suspension you are talking about.
Spend a few bucks and do it right.
