sbc or lsx

Okay guys, I bought another truck and I am wondering what motor to go with. I don't care about mpg since its gonna get driven once in a while, but I am going to try to make this one a show truck, I do want it to have some balls when I floor it. I am just not so sure if i should go with a 350 all chrome out with some bolt ons maybe a blower, or should I get a 5.3 or 6.0 and just call it a day, frame is getting blasted as we speak so need to get one very soon. I just wanted to have yalls opinion. And why should i go with that.

Re: sbc or lsx

I think its easier and cheaper to build a sbc, but if youre going for a show truck id do an lsx.

Re: sbc or lsx

Not worried about mpgs and don't drive it might as well build a sbc and put money elsewhere, want cheap and an ls get a 5.3, they all have the ability to put you in your seat but the sbc superchargers are way cheaper, not a fan of chrome though ;-p

Re: sbc or lsx

Stock LS will be covered with wires and plastic covers.
Dressed SBC will get more attention at car shows.
Dressed carb'd LS engines can look great, too!

Re: sbc or lsx

Leave the carbs for the sbc's leave fuel injection for the ls, car shows are full of the same things over chromed carb'd sbc's look into custom ls motors especially intakes they're not always covered by wires and plastic just gotta pay alot more lol

Re: sbc or lsx

Didn't want to double post but can't edit old but here's some nice ls intakes which i prefer over any carb setup look, and i do not think you'll see these at car shows that much unless your at an ls festival

Re: sbc or lsx

The 6.2 and 6.5 will bolt right in,A 4bt which is a 4 cylinder cummins will be the best on fuel but a 12 valve cummins can be a monster once modded.

Re: sbc or lsx

Problem is that those sweet LS intakes cost more than a complete 350!!!

Re: sbc or lsx

next time i do it I'm going to do a engine it will be a LsX, yes the sbc engines might be a little cheaper to build but the old engines have 210hp and the lsx engines start at 320+ hp, it will cost you a lot of money to get that 100 the sbc does not have

fuel injection is the way to go throttle response, better MPG, easy starting & MORE HP I know its hard to change from jetting and a screwdriver to laptops and programing for tuning but I think its worth it in the end once its tuned, ITS TUNED!

you can get the wiring harness, ECU & a complete engine (used) for less then 2k

Re: sbc or lsx

I dunno bigblock i've seen some high priced sbc's lol one of those manifolds is like 2200 and ive seen small blocks sell for way more than that, not saying its worth it or not but i think those are more of a car show attention getter than a carb setup
