50 gal tank sender?
Hey guys,
I have joined the ranks of the rare 3 door burbs and one of the first things i need to do is get the fuel gauge working It reads in the 3 o'clock position and I think it maybe a grounding issue....I was thinking of dropping the tank anyway for cleaning and wondered what fuel sending unit a dealer installed 50 gal tank uses? Thanks for any help

Re: 50 gal tank sender?
I've seen only a couple of the custom tanks personally, and the sender set up looked just like the one in the OEM smaller tanks.
I would think that if the depth of the 50 gal is the same as the 20 something gal tank, it would work just fine so all you would need to know is that you have twice the amount of fuel compared to a stock tank.

Re: 50 gal tank sender?
i had one of those in mine at one time, even have pics in my build thread, then i took it out and gave it to a friend and swapped in a newer smaller (31 gallon square body) suburban tank, but the sending unit that was in that old big sheet metal tank was held in by i believe 5 screws, kind of like the universal ones you can buy through companies like jegs etc.

Re: 50 gal tank sender?
Don't know whether or not the 45 gallon tank is being made, but I have an "original." Pictures of sending unit that was in it are posted. Once it's out you can isolate the problem in either the gauge, sending unit or wiring. 90 Ohm is right on the side of the sending unit. Good luck.
