Re: what did you get done 12/11/2011 edition

Got nothing done on the pickup, but spent today doing much needed organizing(electrical toolbox I carry in the big truck), and put 2 new plug ends on my trailer electrical cord for the big truck. Don't know why I waste my time replacing the ends.
That's about it. Weekends are too short.

Followed wife to drop malibu off at dealer for repairs. We drove around in burb all weekend long. Also repalced blower motor that would yell at us sometimes. I figured it was time to replace it just in case wife has to drive the burb somewere this week. Also put in a order for a all aluminam rad with duel fans and shroud for under 380 new!

I wire wheeled the rust off of my sport bumper licence plate bracket, painted it black, and installed new light assembly so Im legal now. Also replace right front blinker socket. This stuff got me out of hanging christmas lights.

Nothing on truck. Had an auction today and then helped a buddy finish the siding on his house.

Re: what did you get done 12/11/2011 edition

I finally got the motor off the engine stand...

....but it's still not in the truck . I needed to get the motor/trans mated so I can try & get it into the engine bay soon. After getting the the engine on the floor & the trans bolted up, I had to build a moving dolley to be able to move the combo until installation day arrives. Talk about heavy. It was a SOB trying to push that iron-headed bbc/th400 pairing up my slightly sloped driveway & into the garage.

After work today, I got new hardware & torqued the converter to the flexplate. I still have a few other odds/ends to source & as always, I'm waiting on more parts....

Oops, did get something done on the pickup. Got the passenger side lock rod tapped and replaced(tapped to prevent the actuator rod we had to make when we put the one piece glass kit in from slipping off). Also cut the rods down slightly to get them to sit at a good height locked and unlocked.

Went to a local car swap meet - pick-up few things. New engine is almost ready to be fired up on the engine test stand, but the trip to the tree lot prevented this After offloading and setting up Noble Fir discovered that I have a coolant leak right around heater core! Looks like I have heater core replacement in my Xmas holiday schedule!

Managed to tear my oil filter in half trying to remove it. Now I must figure out how to remove and break free the oil filter.

Put the pistons in my L6 rebuild project. Hard to do a lot when it's 25 degrees out and you have a gravel floor no heat barn. Unfortunately rear brakes and fuel system (again) on the 87 diesel are next in line.

Re: what did you get done 12/11/2011 edition

Not that much since my bed wood is still in the making. Im beginning to suspect that the guy who is making them are waiting for the oak to grow in to size before he can start. So I shot primer on my tailgate and a feve smal brackets just to get something done, and pulled the tank covers so I could clean them, did not think about removing them before I painted the cab so they had a lot of overspray on them.

Started the brake master cylinder replacement on my 1987. Got it bench bled and decided I didn't want to play in the 17 degree weather anymore. I'm going to finish it up today.

Made progress in gutting the cab, took out the heat/air plenum, in-cab wiring harness, e-brake and pedals remain. Still have to pull master cylinder/booster, wiper motor and a few things I'm forgetting about before the cab is ready to be taken off.

Re: what did you get done 12/11/2011 edition

I need to post before and after pics, but I'm waiting on a few suspension pieces... I realized I've had the truck now a little over 2 weeks. 76 c10 I got from a 91 year old guy moving back to Finland. White front and silvery rear bumper gone for chrome front and rear, found a dash piece that matches the rest of the wood grain, new tires (new steelies, lol) cleaned up the inline 6 a little, 77 grill with chrome bowtie in place of the stock black (broken) one, started chasing wires (trying to figure out why my front park lights come on in reverse but my backup lights don't,) and took out the cobbled trailer plug that was (fortunately) spliced in at the push fittings. Then I realized I'd gone thru most of the beer, so I called it a weekend.

Now I just have to figure out if I wanna static, bag, or hydro this thing (mostly based on what I feel like doing to the rear suspension, haha) Hoping this week will be as productive (if my hands heal quick, cus I'm a clutz!!!)

Re: what did you get done 12/11/2011 edition

Got the Pre Filter and EFI Pump installed on the inside of the frame rail between the selector valve and the trans cross member.

Flaired the hard fuel line and installed an inverted flair to barb fitting for the EFI system with a temp piece of fuel line. Will be easy to finished the pump conversions next weekend.

Dropped the Passanger Fuel Tank to clean it out. Was pretty clean actually.

Refinished all the Corvette Tuned Port Injection setup so it is ready to go next weekend also.

Last but not least, i got the "Hey, you head lights are on dumb ass" buzzer installed.

Sunday was at the drag strip all day.

I made the decision to put my visor on my new cab. If it was going on then I needed the holes drilled before primer and paint.

Thanks. I'm just planning on getting the inside and the engine bay back how it was when new. I like the way the outside looks like it is.

New vinyl. Color isn't perfect and still have to get some wrinkles out.
