Best way to sell a project truck?
Hey guys, what have you found -or what do you think- is the best way to sell a project roller truck? I've got this 80 that has no drive train but everything else is new, but it doesn't seem to be getting any heat on Craigslist. If you guys were looking for a new project, where do you go to look? Thanks!

I've been wearing out craigslist for the last few months, but just looky-looing more than anything.
What is your truck listed under? Cars and trucks, or parts? |

That's a tough one. I had a K5 Blazer sitting for the last decade or so and it was gutted inside. That got alot of tire kickers but no real leads. Now that I've decided to finish it off and keep it, I get people stopping by all the time. Ya just can't win. I'm keeping it now.

Re: Best way to sell a project truck?
If i cant move it ill usually relist as for sale or trade, but then you get the kooks wanting to trade you their lawnmowers. As a last resort ill part it out, but thats usually move hassle than its worth. If i cant get any intrest on it i usually dissassemble and store, and keep the more costly parts for future projects. Make sure you have good photos on youre add. Also try hotrodhotline and auto/truck round up. (not free)

Re: Best way to sell a project truck?
like was said, GOOD pics. Take them in good light and a good MP, and put them on Clist using a photo hosting site.
and u have to take a loss, no way around it. I am in the market for a project right now, but because of where I live i have to drive an hour to see most. Well its not even worth my time to drive if I cant even get decent pics to spark my interest. Oh and I check ebay and Clist daily, the good deals go quick. People are buying, but people are looking for deals. This is a hobby for most of us, so not everyone is spending big bucks on someone elses project. |

Re: Best way to sell a project truck?
Yeah, I've pretty much accepted the fact that I'm going to lose money in it.
I've got it on CL under cars and trucks right now with a handful of big Photobucket pics. I guess I could put it under parts as well just for kicks. Maybe somebody with an early-stage project will come across it and realize they could spend a couple extra bucks and get WAY ahead of the game. As far as ebay, don't they charge a percentage for a listing fee on cars, or is it just a flat rate?

Re: Best way to sell a project truck?
I havent posted a car for sale on ebay in a while, they always change the whay the do things so could say right now.
make sure u have a good title. eg. of bad ones, chevy, or 89 truck or project truck u have to grab interest with ur title, now add all that together, 1989 chevy K5 project truck SUV more terms u have in ur title the more u will come up in search results. Clist does have a terrible seach engine also like if u have 1989 chevy and i search 89 chevy it wont come up. |

Nothing is hardly selling now. I have listed quite a few items on Craigslist that usually sell quick.
Not even any bites. Its that time of year.

Re: Best way to sell a project truck?
Have you tried listing it on this site? This is a place where there are lots of people who build trucks.

Re: Best way to sell a project truck?
You could do it like I did my last few....invest alot of money and time, get it almost done, get disgusted and give it away for half of what you have in it. Trust me, do that and it will be gone in a day.
