Re: Anyone use Lenco Transmissions or JEFFco Transmissions on thier truck?
I run a CS1 in my fuel altered/funny car.
Jeff Boyd left Lenco many years ago and started Jeffco Performance. As far as Jeffco's capabilities, Ed Thorton, won several PSCA Pro Street championships running a Jeffco transmission.

Re: Anyone use Lenco Transmissions or JEFFco Transmissions on thier truck?
I was gunna try it in my truck, until I read up on it. I lost my left leg in a car accident. I thought it would work as a pedal-less clutch. Not the right application. That and it is over kill for a small block that doesnt burn nitro. A passing idea, just remembered pricing it out.

I have been looking into finding a used Donovan unit to put in front of a 3 speed lenco.
Some thing about grabbing gears seems to fun.

Re: Anyone use Lenco Transmissions or JEFFco Transmissions on thier truck?
It would be kind of unruly on the street, IMO. The engine would have to overcome a lot of inertia (takes a lot of HP), it requires a lot of RPM, and then you would probably have to go through lots of floaters/cutters and disks (I go through a set of disks and floaters about every 3-5 passes).

Re: Anyone use Lenco Transmissions or JEFFco Transmissions on thier truck?
I ran one in a S-15 drag truck I had. It still had a plate so I would drive it on the street now and then just for fun .. Not very nice at all for street use. For the track I loved it but ended up going over to a glide in the end. Was easier for me to get the truck to hook. I was running a 742 BB , so traction was a bit of a issue... Overkill but sure was fun!!!!

Lenco on the street? Sure, I did it and although cool it was not very practical or fun in normal driving.
Crowerglide? I can't see this working well at all. Given its centrifugal design. |
