85 C10 lwb to swb???

I am converting truck from lwb to swb. The swb wheelbase is 117.5. My question is, "If I am redoing the rear suspension does it really matter where I cut the frame? Couldn't I just move the axle forward to the 117.5 mark and cut the necessary length off the rear of the frame? Also, you dont see too many stock pics of 85 c10 customs. Is my truck lifted in the front? Also I am putting it on air if that helps at all with the response.
