85 suburban Tank in my 71 4x4? advice wanted?

Hi,,I have taken a 40 gal Suburban gas tank and Cross members out of a 85 suburban and am installing it under the bed of my 71 long bed 4x4 where the spare tire goes,,anyone ever do this? and any advice welcome!

Hey Dave...i found this...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=470789....looks like post #7 may help ya out...cannot tell if the truck is a 4x4, but they did use a 73 burb tank

I don't know how they put a 40 gallon in there. I had a big one out of a '73 frame (I assume it was 40 Gallons) and it seemed to me when I test fitted it that it would collide with the differential when going over a small bump. That was when it had a 4" lift. A 30 gallon will fit nice.
