WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
Looking for a set of 16" (or maybe 16.5") aluminum slots for a 3/4 ton 72.
I have a set of 15", 5 lug's (5 on 5) that I would consider trading for plus $$. |

Re: WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
Tim,these are like the OEM-style wide steel wheels. When sots were out the only wide tires for 8-lug trucks were 16.5s. There is a company that now makes 16"ers, I don't have the company bookmarked on this computer, though. Maybe someone else can point you their way.
Here is a company that deals in hard to find wheels that has a rare 16" set. I imagine there are right salty. www.akhwheels.com

Re: WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
I am thinking that I need to change this request to 16.5" wheels.
Looking like 16's are scarce. |

I have been looking for wheels for the past 3 weeks and somewhere on craigslist I saw a set of 16 or 16.5 8 lug slot mags about 3 or 4 days ago. I am in Tulsa and have been looking on the following Craigslist:

Re: WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
You are going through what we all did when we decided to go with old style slots. There is little to no chance of finding vintage 16" ones because as Special-K said...we dont think they were made. The 16.5's can be found...BUT...research your tire needs before you buy them. There are very limited tire sizes for 16.5's and they are not cheap. Also you will need lug nuts that work and center capsthat fit so you will need to ad another $125 ti whatever you pay for the wheels to get the rest of the stuff if they dont come with it.

The one I saw may have been this one via google search in CO, I sometimes look on there too but I don't think so, but this ad is already pulled.

Re: WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
Thanks for the links! I am checking into it and appreciate all your help.
I bought a set of Firestone 16.5's a few years ago and they were really nice. Hopefully I will be able to find something like them again. BTW, I love those wheels on that red/orange truck! |

Re: WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
I love the slots, too, especially 8-lug. I had 8.25/9.75s on my Ochre & White '71 Cheyenne Custom Camper along with a white tonneau cover (when the camper was off) for a period correct look. I ran 9.75s on a couple K/20s over the years and now have a set of those for my '72 GMC. Off road tires are still pretty available and cheaper than 16s. For a 2wd running 8.25s you'll find 9.50s available. If nothing else,Coker should carry something. I last had a set of General Ameri-Stars or Ameri-somethings. Could be they're no longer available. But,General is pretty big on truck tires.

Re: WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
I agree, and I am a stock look guy but those slots have that period look and I really like the way they look on these trucks.
The last Custom Camper I had I bought 9.5 x 16.5 Firestones and they looked great. Fortunately I have a friend that works for a truck tire wholesaler so I should be able to have him help me out. |

Re: WTB 16"-8 lug aluminum slots!!!
Took me a while to find my 8 lug 16.5x9.75 slots, but well worth the search. Now I just need one more for my spare!
