guys with 5/7 & 6/8 drops help me out, measure and post some pics!!!
can you guys please help me figure out how much my truck is lowered?
i wil have to get a pic of the front of it because all of the ones i have now have *************** painted on it im running a 235/60r15 in the front and a 275/60r15 rear and my a arms are a roll of painters tape from the ground. ive done some math and i came up with 4.8 front 5.8 rear but it seems to be lower than that, every truck i see with a 6/8 drop looks about right in the front as far as bumper height and fender to tire goes. but my math doesn't add up to those numbers, (the rear of mine is too high and im not worried about it yet) so can anybody with a 6/8 or a 5/7 measure their fender height and control arm height and list their tire height along with a picture of their truck. thanks guys i really need the help

I'm not actually for postive sure what my height numbers are myself. The rear measurements change depending on which tire I am running at the time. One set of slicks is 1" taller and the other is 2" taller than the radials. I like to say I have a "just right for me" drop. Here's mine.
Rear....31x18.5x15 Hoosier Pro-Street Radials bottom of opening to axle center line is 12 3/4" bottom of opening to floor is 27" Front...P255/6OR-15 Seiberling Falcons bottom of opening to axle center line is 11 3/4" bottom of opening to floor is 24 1/2"

Agreed....so what's a good way to measure the real drop on the truck? Top of wheelwell to center of wheel???? I'd kinda like to know the actual drop on mine.

I dont know what the spec's were from the factory but there are more than one. I think i have seen atleast 3 differant leaf springs on c-10, can you see what was all done to lower it in the first place.

Measure from fender lip to center of wheels. With the several different leaf spring options, measurements will very. Also remember alot of trucks leafs have lost there spring tension and will start to sag, making your drop lower than others. Thats what I just found out with my 73. Also FYI, If your truck sits lower one side (usually gas tank side) the springs might be shot. I just got suburban leafs that solved that problem, because of their rear gas tank. They wear evenly.

In my opinion if you go that low you truck will not be enjoyable to drive. But if your thing is to watch for every little thing in the road to avoid so you don't scrape and damage your truck go for it.

Camshaftgsxr, If your lower a-arms are within the width of a roll of painters tape, you have @ least a 5" front drop w/the probability of it being 6".

85 long bed, 86 short. not mr chevy or anything like that. but the 82 gave me the itch. and i sold it...then car then truck...square..not stayin with the square. many miles...tire fell off the 82.....long story. 85 cost me 18 for truck, then 3k to get it rolling. hated the way it went...but loved driving an old truck that prob rode better then 90% of the 2000 watevers. |
